If you were to put ‘Las Vegas’ and the word ‘green’ together you’d most-likely conjure up images of the famous MGM Grand hotel/casino and their Wizard of Oz Emerald City theme. Times have changed and in this environmentally aware society we live in, there is another entirely different kind of ‘green’ taking place the City of Sin.

Perhaps an unlikely place to consider environmentally aware, Las Vegas is going through a change with many of the hotels, restaurants and attractions looking at reducing their carbon footprints. In fact, in 2010 Las Vegas city center became one of the LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certified projects on the planet.

Las-Vegas

To help Las Vegas gain more of a green reputation there are ways you can help reduce your carbon footprint whilst you are there.

You can get great deal to Las Vegas now as well from online travel agents check here on their website and see what deals you can get on your holiday to Las Vegas.

The Palazzo Hotel

This green hotel isn’t situated within the eco-aware city center  however it is doing everything it can to gain a LEED certified status. You’ll find energy-efficient heat-saving windows, specially designed shower heads to reduce the water flow, and every room features CFLs, a more economical form of lighting.

The Palazzo The Palazzo

Ride The Monorail or Bus

Forget the hassle of car hire and ride around Las Vegas and all its attractions using public transport. The Las Vegas Monorail is four miles long and a great way of stopping along the strip. Because it reduces the need for hire cars, it saves around 135 tons of carbon emissions annually. It costs $5 per ticket but you can choose a $20 Party Pack, which allows for six persons to ride. Cheaper still, $2 will buy you a bus ticket or $5 will let you ride for 24 hours.

Organic Fare at Wolfgang Puck’s Cafe

If you visit the Springs Preserve, how about feasting on organic food at Wolfgang Puck’s Cafe? Not only will you be munching on organic and regional fare, you’ll be between a natural environment and all its wonderful views.

Save Water

Las Vegas is essentially a city in the middle of a desert, so water isn’t plentiful here. If you save water at home, then simple take your eco-ways away with you. You could travel with a reusable water bottle, saving on buying more packaged/bottled water. Always turn the tap off when not in use i.e. brushing your teeth.

Use a Segway

Another green way of travelling, but a lot more fun, is hiring a battery-powered Segway. There are companies running daily tours of Las Vegas where you cover a lot of ground by simply standing on and riding one of these cool Segways. There are 3 downtown tours operating, with photos and video shot available to purchase afterwards.

Rent a Hybrid

If the monorail or buses are simply not an option, you could opt for hiring a green car such as a Prius or a petrol/battery hybrid. Taxicabs aren’t very green and clock up more miles in and around Las Vegas than any other form of transport. However, The Lucky Cab Company is an exception, running a fleet of Priuses.

Shark Reef

The Shark Reef is situated at Mandalay Bay, an exhibit featuring a giant 7-foot Komodo dragon. If you have the nerve, you can also dive with sharks – there are more than 30 species throughout the 4-hour experience. Participants also learn about the reef’s preservation of endangered species, detrimental to the shark’s survival. This attraction is very eco-aware, with a list of eco-friendly policies set in place.

Clark County Wetlands Park

Get away from the city hustle and bustle and visit the 130 acres of the Wetlands Park. With an additional 80 acres still pending, this natural haven features seasonal and permanent wetlands, thriving ponds, and a mesquite tree community, providing safe habitats for all kinds of wildlife and migratory birds that have been disturbed or destroyed from the development of South Nevada.

Buffalo Exchange

If you are eco-conscious and love shopping, the Buffalo Exchange offers

Clark County Wetlands Park

sustainable stylish fashion. This place combines expensive designer clothing with the concept of a thrift store, where you can buy pre-used designer threads for a bargain.

Eat Organic Raw and Vegan Fare at Go Raw Cafe

Not many people are into eating raw food, but at Go Raw Cafe, you will

find something scrumptious to munch on. Go Raw has two locations, both serving up mostly healthy organic and vegan raw food – before you judge, you must try it, a superb answer to the classic Vegas buffet.

So with a little thought, research and preparation, you don’t have to live in sin in the City of Sin. Visit Las Vegas and help it maintain and grow as an eco-aware city.

lungsIf you’ve ever had any type of upper respiratory infection (URI), whether it’s a cold, bronchitis, the flu or laryngitis (just to name a few), then you already know how uncomfortable that it can be. From wheezing while you’re trying to breathe to headaches and earaches, while your body is attempting to heal itself, all you can think of is finding ways to get some relief.

That’s why we’re here, to provide you with five natural and proven ways to treat a respiratory infection so that you (and your lungs) can get back to feeling normal again.

Get more water into your system. When you have a URI, one of the symptoms is that your mucous membranes will be dry. In order to speed up the healing process, you will need to keep them hydrated at all times. First start with drinking more water and keeping a humidifier in your room as you sleep. Another great tip is to use some kind of saline nasal spray (preferably made with Aloe Vera or an anti-inflammatory herb) every 2-3 hours as well.

Cut back on the dairy and the yeast. Two things that definitely keep congestion going in our systems are dairy (milk, cheese, ice cream) and yeast (mushrooms, alcohol, sugar). As a matter of fact, there have been several studies to support the fact that many people who have been diagnosed with having a URI also have fungal sinusitis or an overgrowth of candida (yeast) already in their bodies. That’s why it’s important to eat plenty of fruits and vegetables, along with fiber, whole grains and protein to build up your immune system.

Sleep more. Two of the most overlooked causes of any kind of sickness is internalized stress and sleep deprivation. Even if you are an adult, you still need eight hours of sleep so that your body can fully rejuvenate itself from the wear and tear of the day. If you want to get better faster, spend more time resting. It’s free and miraculously beneficial.

Exercise. If you’re taking a health class at your local community college or you’re a student at a school such as the University of Cincinnatti Online, one thing you’ve probably heard is the fact that exercise is good for the lungs. That’s because the more oxygen that our organs get, the more our blood is able to circulate and that’s always good for our immunity. While you have a respiratory infection, you may not feel up to 30 minutes of cardio, but if you can manage a walk around the block in the evenings, your body will be thankful that you did.

Try some aromatherapy. Did you know that aromatherapy can help to soothe your upper respiratory system? Whether it’s eucalyptus, peppermint, rosemary, thyme or pine, the moment that you put a few drops in your humidifier, rub a combination of one of the scents along with some coconut oil on your chest or you follow a recipe to make it into a nasal spray, you will find that breathing will be much easier. For recipes on how to properly use aromatherapy, go to your favorite search engine and put “aromatherapy for upper respiratory infections” in your search field.

lawn careEveryone loves to have a lush, green lawn surrounding their home. It’s almost like your own little piece of nature, but lawn care is so paradoxically wasteful and destructive that it’s often more eco-friendly to do away with them altogether. However, it doesn’t have to be that way. By following these eco-friendly lawn care tips you can keep your home green in more ways than one.

Start Composting for Natural Fertilizer
Composting is great for the environment. It keeps a lot of biodegradable waste from clogging up landfills, and it can generate your lawn’s favorite food at the same time. When you have your own compost heap set up, you can start generating natural mulch and fertilizer to feed your lawn and garden all the nutrients they need. Turn your trash into your lawn’s treasure by composting. You’ll cut down on waste and never need to buy fertilizer again.Clean Up the Old Fashioned Way
Lawn mowers and leaf blowers are some of the biggest energy hogs in the modern American garage today. Get rid of these wasteful utilities and groom your lawn the old-fashioned way. A push mower can trim the grass just as well as any modern electric or gas powered mower, and a rake or broom can easily take the place of a leaf blower. Not only will you be cutting down on energy consumption, but you’ll be getting a food workout at the same time. Put some old fashioned muscle behind your landscaping, rather than relying on wasteful machines.Accept the Native Flora
Some home owners have a tendency toward obsessive landscaping on their lawns, and many become control freaks about what they want growing. Keeping native plants out of your lawn and garden is time consuming and difficult, as well as environmentally destructive. Pulling up roots and introducing non-native plants disrupts the local ecosystem around your house. Native plants are already adapted to the climate and soil in your locale, and they will flourish in natural harmony with the environment even when you don’t have time to pamper them.Collect Rain Water
One of the most wasteful aspects of lawn care is the watering. Every day you see the neighbors watering their lawns, and some even have automatic sprinklers installed for that daily dose of irrigation. However, every drop of that water is treated and processed before it reaches the hose, making this practice very wasteful. Collecting rain water to water your lawn can actually eliminate the need for the garden hose and sprinkler. Save some of the water that nature gives you for free, and stop wasting the water that your city makes you pay for.Consider Going Synthetic
Artificial grass is the subject of some debate today. On one hand, it is made from plastic, which means petroleum, which means dirty production and non-renewable resources. On the other hand, a synthetic lawn never needs to be watered, mowed, or treated with any kind of chemical pesticide or fertilizer. If you live in a very dry climate but still want a green lawn to surround your home, synthetic grass may well be a more eco-friendly option for you.

promote your businessGreen business has never been more important than it is today. As the world population continues to grow, industry constantly drains our resources and pollutes our ecosystems. The only way for mankind to continue surviving and thriving in this world is to push for a more sustainable and green way of living. Businesses have tremendous power in this environmental struggle, but they are often struggling themselves. Consider these 5 great ways to market your green business without breaking the bank.

Recycled Paper Advertisements
The advance of computerization has not yet wiped out the need for paper advertising. Business cards and fliers are still among the best ways to market your business locally, and using recycled paper for your printed advertisements is a great way to stay green all the while. Using recycled and post-consumer materials is an excellent way to keep up your green image, and it can also save you money. As recycling techniques get more advanced and streamlined, post-consumer paper is quickly becoming a more budget friendly option for businesses everywhere.Electronic Mailing Lists
Marketing is not a passive aspect of business–you need to be actively involved in your advertising efforts at all times. Reaching out to your customers is an excellent way to keep them engaged. Rather than wasting paper and money on mass mailing, however, start an electronic mailing list to stay connected with your customers. Offer them the option to sign up for a regular newsletter through your website or other promotional materials. This will help to expand your influence and get more people on board who share your business’s values.Social Media Marketing
The internet is the number one renewable resource for green businesses struggling to advertise under budget constraints. The rise of social media network has given green marketers some great new places to advertise their businesses. Profiles on highly trafficked networks like Facebook and Twitter allow you to easily expand your reach and stay in touch with customers at the same time. Social media networks encourage sharing, which means you can get even more exposure every time someone shares one of your posts. Best of all, it won’t cost anything more than your time.Website Optimization
One of the hottest marketing trends of the modern age is perfect for all businesses, and especially green companies. Optimizing your website for higher ranking in search engine results is a brilliant way to help customers find you with zero environmental impact. Consider hiring an SEO specialist to work on your website layout and content, and also list your business in online directories like Spokeo.com to help generate more traffic.Eco-Friendly Incentives
Obviously your business’s product is designed to fill the customer’s needs, but why should they buy it from you? Think about what you can offer the customer. Green incentives can be wonderful additions to your marketing strategy. Consider partnering with environmentally conscious charities to donate a percentage of every sale to a good cause. Offer discounts to customers who demonstrate their own green ingenuity. There are endless ways to promote sustainable living through green incentives and find affordable marketing solutions at the same time.

pollutionEnvironmental concerns are at the top of a long list of serious world issues today, in the minds of millions of people. Reckless industrial practices and relentless profiteering have put the entire world in a difficult situation. Things are beginning to change in many places, however. The push for sustainable energy is getting stronger by the year, and alternatives to fossil fuels are more accessible and prevalent now than ever before. However, we are still stuck in an environmentally precarious position. What many people don’t realize, however, is the way that environment issues can, and do, impact our health every day.

Consider the air you breathe. Human beings cannot live without breathable air, and our atmosphere is sustaining massive amounts of pollution every day. Pollution from fossil fuel burning are so toxic that cities like Los Angeles have placed stringent requirements on emissions for automobiles. Of course, automobiles are not the only culprit in air pollution. Coal burning is still running rampant all over the world, creating huge amounts of air pollution. The toxic emissions that pollute our air have been linked to health problems such as asthma, bronchitic, cardiopulmonary disease, and even some forms of cancer. Polluted air is a major factor in declining quality of life across the globe.

Our water is another of our most important resources, and one that is equally at risk. Catastrophic oil spills in the ocean may not seem to effect us directly, but contaminants in ground water are a serious public health concern. Chemical fertilizers and pesticides leaching into ground water, among other chemical impurities, have already led millions of consumers worldwide to eschew the tap in favor of bottled water. Many people, however, do not have access to such luxuries. In many parts of the world, waterborne infections are still serious public health concerns.

Environmental risks even come in our food. Recalls of contaminated meat have been unusually common in recent years. Environmentally destructive farming practices are producing diseased food on a massive scale, and the dangers are not usually discovered until people start falling ill. The produce in our supermarkets is often grown with the aid of chemical fertilizers and pesticides that may be lingering in the foods themselves. We haven’t had a pesticide crisis on the scale of DDT in recent years, but that doesn’t mean our current pesticide-laced foods are healthy. The development of genetically modified organisms in farming is equally alarming to many people. These practices are not only environmentally destructive–they are directly affecting the health of billions of people.

The public at large stands to gain nothing from environmental destruction. The only recourse for many people is to browse online resources like MedicalInsurance to make sure they have the coverage they need if health problems should ever catch up to them. The rising rates of obesity, cancer, diabetes and other health problems in recent years are no coincidence. Environmental issues are proving to impact the health of people worldwide. The environment is no longer just an environmental concern–we are part of it, and it affects us every day.

Arizona State UniversityEducation is one of the most important keys to the future success of any community, large or small. Nations rise and fall based on the skill of their population, and innovations in science, technology and engineering often are the key to becoming a global superpower. The United States has swam in those waters for at least the past century, and although our educational system has more than its fair share of flaws, one area where it is thriving is sustainability. Climate change as an issue of global importance is only now being wholeheartedly accepted, but supporting Mother Nature has been a cornerstone goal on the collegiate level in the US for quite some time. Take a look at just a few of the US universities that are leading the way to sustainability.

First off, head up to the city of Olympia, Washington, and the beautiful Evergreen State College. Nature is clearly an ingrained aspect of this school’s identity, and its policies prove that out. The school management has declared a goal of reducing waste down to zero and becoming fully carbon neutral by the end of this decade. And their actions declare this isn’t just a promotional effort. All of the energy the school purchases is environmentally sustainable. All campus vehicles are electric, and they emphasize a bike sharing program for the student body. Every building operates a solar-powered hot water heating system, and there are more than thirteen acres of organic farmland right there on campus. With an aggressive composting program as well, the school is able to feed all of their students and donate goods to food banks in the area.

Bar Harbor College in Maine is one of the most sustainable educational institutions in the world. They’ve successfully achieved carbon neutrality, and have maintained that standard since 2007. Conservation is at the forefront of all building efforts, and they always look to preserve current structures instead of just jumping into new construction. All energy is renewable, and they even catch wasted hot water and use it to heat cold water. Every cafeteria serves locally-grown food that is 100% organic, and the ecosystem is supporting with composting in every kitchen and bathroom.

Next, head out to the deserts of Tempe, Arizona, where Arizona State University has one of the most aggressive sustainability goals in the nation. They aim to cut greenhouse emissions on campus by 75%, and expect to do so by 2025 at the very latest. They continue to add heat recovery systems, and expanding energy needs are met with solar and Wind Power. Almost three dozen buildings on campus meet LEED certifications, and any new projects have to be designed to LEED Silver certification at the very least.

Finally, check out the beautiful, forward thinking Berea College in Kentucky. Nestled in the Appalachian mountains, Berea College houses students in what they call an EcoVillage. The management expect this complex cuts waste in half and water and energy usage by about 75%. The walls are properly insulated with organic materials, and every appliance is efficiency certified. Obviously natural resources are used, and unless your school is a UAB online program that’s unavoidable. But visitors to Berea get to stay in the Boone Tavern Hotel, newly renovated to meet LEED Gold standards.

Finding a balance between all of the latest technological products and between your personal hygiene and health can be a pretty difficult problem indeed. Now, thanks to the vast variety of new products that are available for purchase to home owners, people can virtually create a balance between the latest that the tech generation has to offer, combined with the hygiene values that people establish for themselves.

One of the things that many people ignore in their life is the use of proper hand cleaners and dryers. Ninety percent of the diseases that are reported are the ones that are caused via improper hygiene, and the most obvious way of transmission is through unclean hands.

If you go to the washroom and do not properly clean and dry your hands, or use somebody else’s soap, there is a very strong chance that your hands are not as clean as you think they are. Here are two very important products that can help you make your life much easier, and cleaner:

Hand dryers

Hand dryers are state of the art, highly modern equipment that you can now purchase for your bathroom without so much as having to look at the price twice. Those who are looking to remodel or redesign their washrooms can opt for a hand dryer easily.

Dyson Airblade Hand Dryer

These electronic hand dryers come with built in motion sensors, which allow them to dispel warm air as soon as anybody places their hands beneath them. If you have just washed your hands, you probably want to dry them off without actually touching anything, and with the help of a hand dryer, you can now do just that.

Hand dryers are simple, easy and very effective to use, and when it comes to creating a balance between your health, hygiene and the latest that green technology has to offer, hand dryers are one of the finest products that you can find in the market for your washroom.

Hand cleaners

Several surveys have stated that using someone else’s soap can be very harmful and infectious, and it is certainly not good for hygiene. However, thanks to the variety of different hand cleaners that are now available in the market, you don’t even have to worry.

You can buy top quality automatic hand cleaning equipment that allows you to get hand cleaner as soon as you press a button on the machine, allowing you to clean your hands without having to worry about using somebody else’s soap. The good thing about hand cleaners is that compared to soaps, they allow you to get much cleaner hands, without transmitting any of the germs of the previous user.

Moreover, even though this technology was pretty new before, it has now become pretty main stream, so you can easily buy good quality hand cleaners at a pretty good price.

I believe hand cleaners and hand dryers should be used in every apartment since they help people in keeping themselves clean by utilizing the latest technology available.

How you want your own DIY solar panels? With the construction and installation of solar panels to your home, you can significantly reduce your monthly energy bill and an example for others in your neighbourghood it is not as environmentally conscious. Project is very easy to do and possible for everyone, no matter what you have experience with DIY projects.

Basically, it’s incredibly simple and cheap solar panels for domestic heating heater, which heats the air directly. The most interesting thing is that solar cells are almost exclusively made of empty beer and soda cans made of aluminum!

DIY pop can solar heater Housing for the solar collector is made of wood (plywood 15mm) made while his front is composed of 3 mm (0.12 inches) Plexiglass / polycarbonate (you can choose glass and application). The back of the case is set to rock wool (you can use styrofoam) as insulation.
Solar-absorber is the beer / beverage cans manufactured and painted flat black paint resistant to high temperatures. The upper part (lid) of cans is specifically designed to provide a more efficient heat exchange between doses, and the air that passes.
When it warms up sun, regardless of outside temperature, cans and indoor air very quickly. Small fan pushes hot air into the room.
Our solar system is not capable of accumulating heat energy it produces. If the weather is fine, the solar thermal system, but it is necessary to make immediately available for heating the air inside the house. When the sun does not shine, it is necessary to interrupt the flow of air through the solar collector, if the room begins to cool. This can be solved in a simple way – by installing the valve, which reduces heat loss to a minimum.
Differential thermostat Small (pressure plate) controls the fan. This thermostat can be better equipped in the stores of electronic components are purchased. The device has two sensors. Was placed in the top opening of the hot air and the other in the lower opening for the supply of cold air into the solar collector.
If the temperature is adjusted exactly to the solar panels produce an average of 2 kilowatts of energy for heating. This usually depends on how much you have Sun during the day.
Repeat the solar was carried in the front yard to install the system on the house. It was a sunny winter day, no clouds. A small cooler with a faulty PC power off has been used as a fan. After 10 minutes the sun produces solar collector to warm air with temperatures above 70 ° C!
The test results have encouraged us to install solar heating in the house as quickly as possible.
After installing solar panels, the outside temperature is -3 ° C, and the solar came from 3 m3/min (3 cubic meters per minute) of heated air. In the original version, we used more as a fan for the test. Temperature of the heated air rose to 72 ° C. The temperature was measured by a digital thermometer.
Calculated power that produced the solar module is approximately 1950 W (watts), which is almost 3 HP (3 HP)!

Conclusion: Considering that the results were very satisfactory, we can conclude that it is worth it-yourself solar panel on each case. The Collector, at least, costs under $ 150 for additional heating of our house used to be, and it is up to you to calculate and find out how much savings you can achieve.

If you were on the title of Nikola Tesla, the image of the mad scientist in my brain pop is mentioned. Tesla is usually a true genius of your first 19 century, but not a lot of people who know.

Nikola Tesla was born July 10, 1956 and died at the ripe old age of 87 years outdated for decades. Back in his younger days and nights, Tesla was designed as the electrical and mechanical engineering. His greatest invention was to promote the commercial production of electricity. Many of his advice was revolutionary and some said that men and women back in the year ended 1900 not yet ready for the means of thinking.

His analysis has paved the way for today's technology to alternative, multi-phase electrical distribution system, the alternating current (AC), and many more. With his invention, Tesla helped to start the second industrial revolution.

If Tesla was a young man, it was a topic of your Austrian Empire. As you get older, it became an American citizen and worked for Thomas Edison. Tesla behind many revolutionary inventions to transfer, especially in the field of wireless vitality. Because of his dream to contradict, it was after the "war of currents" involved in relation to his employer, Thomas Edison. Tesla eventually won and was considered one of the greatest electrical engineers of his time.

In the season 1893 by Nikola Tesla demonstrated his experience, such as vitality can wireless digital electronic devices, electrical energy is transmitted. His work is directly to the construction companies Wardenclyffe Tower, which was financed by JP Morgan.

Wardenclyffe Tower was also considered Tesla Tour. It was announced in 1901 with the goal, but was far from complete. The tower was to send radio signals across the Atlantic. Tesla wanted to represent the planets, how can may well need to be transferred without the cable. Ah, if JP Morgan noted that there was no way I could transfer the ability to achieve for the year determined, he pulled its funding and design of the tower Wardenclyffe came to a halt.

Many of Nikola Tesla initial style and design strategies were observed in any way. Many people think that it was a conspiracy to conceal his invention by the public. Tesla’s invention could literally end the world’s dependence on energy organizations.
